Chienes is a quiet South Tyrolean town and in summer it becomes an ideal starting point for a lot of activities in Pusteria valley. In the small town the Grünbach river, which gives the name to the farm, empties into the Rienza. This is located over the town along the picturesque slope. Medieval heritage in Chienes
The first documentation of this place was at the beginning of the 11th century. But these surroundings are expected to be populated already in the Roman age. A proof of that would be the Roman milestone which is immured in a rock wall, discovered in the year 1928. The medieval structure is located on the left side of the river Rienza, at the bottom of the Getzenberg.
